Da Nang has a coastline of 30 kilometres long, famous for many beautiful seashores stretching from the north to the south such as My Khe, Nam O, Xuan Thieu, Thanh Binh, Tien Sa, Son Tra, Bac My An, Non Nuoc. They are calm seas with green water during four seasons, not being polluted with 60% salination and high safety. With 900 meters in length, My Khe Beach is the most crowded of Da Nang beaches and popular to local people.

My Khe Beach is located about 6km east of Da Nang and about 24km north of Hoi An. It is a nine-kilometre stretch of smooth sand with an average width between 50m and 70m. The gradient is gentle, and its sheltered position in the lee of the Son Tra peninsula softens the autumn winds that restrict swimming further down the coast.

It is an ideal and huge beach with smooth sand and a slight slope. Behind the beach is a dark green poplar forest, and beside, the Kinh River carries crystal water to the sea. The beach has coral, abundant plants and creatures along bankside and under sea. Especially, the beach is next to the city centre, in roads easy to come and by various means of transport. Sea water in My Khe is cool with little wave so you can bath all year's round, especialy in summer from May to August. The lack of large waves, less than average pollution, and an annual mean temperature around 25oC, makes it a safe place to swim for adults and children alike.

The beach has hotels, pleasure-houses and various abundant services, creating favourable conditions for tourists to relax on the seashores. There are 50 well-equipped and comfortable bedrooms and lots of services in My Khe hotel. Many luxurious seaside villas with over 100 rooms are available for families. You can come here to play and rest at weekend. Around the hotel area, there is plenty of seafood restaurants and stalls, and large numbers of local vendors traverse the beach selling all kinds of foods and drinks. Coastal specialties like shrimps, crabs, fish, cuttles, etc. in hundreds of small shops are at reasonable price. They can be irritating sometimes – if they are too persistent, you should ignore the nuisance since that is the best strategy.

American soldiers occupied a part of the beach before 1975. They established some premises for their relaxation and recreations. With some enabling conditions such as being near the city’s center, large space, beautiful landscapes, and qualified services (hotels, restaurants, vehicles keeping site, fresh water bathing, sunshade and buoy lease), My Khe Beach is now convenient for developing kinds of services such as fishing, water-skiing, diving, yatch race and so on.

Moreover, the safeguard team of Da Nang seashore work from 5 a.m to 8 p.m every day to guarantee safety for visitors to bath and relax on the beach. There has been a steady increase in the number of tourists visiting the beach.

Han River suspension bridge was completed, it links the east to the west area, making transportation possible. As a result, My Khe Beach becomes an attractive resort, a really very good beach!

Lang Co is a famous beach of Thua Thien-Hue Province, best known for its ever most beautiful natural landscapes and pure sea wildness. Strategically situated inside the zone of 3 World Heritage Conservation Centers (Hue ancient citadel, Hoi An old town, and My Son holy land), Lang Co is only 30 kilometers from Da Nang, and 70 kilometers from Hue. Geographical features

At Hai Van Mount foot there appears the beautiful Lang Co beach, whose sand banks are 1.5m – 10.5m from sea level. The sand banks gradually change their height to 5.0m-23m from sea level, with total stretching line of 8 – 9 kilometers.

Climate

Typically Vietnamese, Lang Co has a monsoon tropical climate, with two main wind directions, northwest one in winter and southeast one in summer. The annual average temperature is 25.2oC. Tourists should be known that it is hottest in June and July (aprx. 41oC), and coldest in December (aprx. 8.8oC). Annually, the beach has an average rainfall of 3,368 mm.

Seaside features: All the best in one

Seen from above, Lang Co beach looks like a picture of beautiful cristine nature. As you may know, Lang Co is famous for its magnificent natural landscapes surrounded by mountains, tropical jungles, and the boundless blue sea with waves coming to the 8 or 9 - kilometer immaculate and fine sand, absorbing thousands of tourists. The picturesque sea view brought great inspiration for King Khai Dinh to write the epitaph “Royal step-over temple” and issued the decree to order the Ministry of Public Works to build a summer palace for recreation here. Lang Co beach is stretching along 1A Highway, easily found and favorable for tourists’ dropping off. Non Nuoc Beach

With green water and white sand at the foot of the Marble Mountains, Non Nuoc beach stretches 5 km in Hoa Hai Ward of Ngu Hanh Son District.

Non Nuoc beach has wave, climate and salinity that suit sea sports. In 1993, an international surfing competition was hold here with the participation of 40 foreign athletes.

The beach is managed by the Non Nuoc Tourism Company that has three hotels with more than 100 rooms on the beach. They provide entertainment services including photographs for souvenir, handicraft shops, massage, restaurant, tennis and some gymnastics.

A chain of tourism resorts is planned to cater for international tourists including seaside hotels and restaurants, especially an international standard golf court.

At Non Nuoc beach, besides convalescence and bathing, tourists can visit the Marble Mountains where there are ancient pagodas and sacred monumental caves, go around the stone handicraft villages right at the foot of the Marble Mountains or travel by boat on the Co Co river to enjoy peacefulness of the Marble Mountains.

Son Tra Beach

Son Tra Peninsula has lots of beautiful beaches such as Bai Bac, Bai Nam and Bai But. Those beaches remain wild and water is pure. Going up the mount, tourist will go in primeval forest called the Son Tra National Conservation Park. Flora and fauna are plentiful with valuable animals and plants, including red cheek gibbons and turtles noted in the Vietnam's Red Book.

At the sea bed, there are long and beautiful coral reef which is potential for sea diving tourism. The Bai But tourism resort including pleasure-houses, are being built on the mountain sides. Also, there will be an oceanography center to be built here.

Tourists can go swimming, fishing and sightseeing by boat.

Xuan Thieu Beach

Xuan Thieu beach is 3km south of Nam O beach - a place-name linked with a historical event happening in March 1965 when the brigade No.9 of the US marine forces entered the city to start the strategy of "local war" in Vietnam.

Since 1975, the beach is only used for the US soldiers because this was the US military zone with an airport for field combat and storage of military supplies and defence system of Danang city from the North. The US troops called Xuan Thieu 'Red Beach”. This may be owing to visual feeling when they saw at dawn and sunset and the red was reflected from the sea.

Xuan Thieu beach is clean, beautiful and unchanged with white and silky sand and green water.

Since 1992, Xuan Thieu tourism resort has been built with a rather streamlined and sufficient system of services, including hotels, restaurants and some kinds of entertainment for bathing, meeting all tourists' demand.

At present, a 15-km long tourist road route from Thuan Phuoc to the foot of Hai Van Pass through Xuan Thieu beach has been building and will be completed in late 2003. This will be the chance for exploiting all potentials of the beach.

Thanh Binh Beach

Thanh Binh Beach is at the end of Ong Ich Khiem street of Thanh Binh Ward, Hai Chau District.

The beach is calm and there is rarely whirling water.

Situated in Danang Bay along Nguyen Tat Thanh street, Thanh Binh is one of the city's beautiful and convenient beaches. Such sea services as water-skiing, traveling by boat, canoeing etc. have been strongly developed. This is also a rather ideal place for the construction of seaside hotels and small-scale tourist wharves.

Bac My Beach

Seven kilometers southeast to the city’s center, located in Bac My An ward, Ngu Hanh Son district, Danang city is Bac My An beach.

There are five wonderful resorts in this region: T18, My Da Dong 2, My Da Dong 3, Bac My An and Furama.

Before 1975 it was a natural beach. After the city’s liberation day, local authority decided to erect a resting house and a sanatorium to serve civil officials of previous Quang Nam - Da Nang province. And now with appearance of Furama tourist site, the beach is well-known on its international coastal relaxing resort.

Furama resort with 200 bedrooms, and other services coming up to the 5-star level officially began to work since 1996. Different services of T18, Danatours company, and private shops with articles of reasonable price are available.

Up to a tourist’s financial capability and taste, one can have his own choice. Furama resort is for one of a full pocket, while nearby small hotels, and resting houses are at rather reasonable price.

Nam O Beach

17-kilometers northwest to the city’s center, located in Hoa Hiep ward, Lien Chieu district is Bac My An beach. It is said that Nam O means at the south of the ancient O territory (Nam: south, O: O territory).

From Nam O beach, one can ride a boat westwards on Cu De river, acts an ecological tour to a ward of minority people in Hoa Bac, Hoa Vang district.

Coming into being in early of the 1960s, Nam O beach was used by local people. But now some houses on stilts were built for tourism.

Lien Chieu has a plan of embellishing landscapes, solving the problem of environment pollution, constructing a 800-meter road linked Nam O bridge to bathing resorts.
